15 Minutes

Alright, today in school we started 15 minutes. It's a program to raise awareness about drunk driving. Did you know every 15 minutes someone dies to a drunk car accident? To help us realize the harshness of this, for the next two days, every fifteen minutes one junior or senior gets pulled from their class by the grim reaper, thus losing their life... No one can acknowledge the dead unless honoring them at their gravestone that is somewhere among the center of the school. The dead cant speak or acknowledge us. Harsh right? Most kids see this as a joke during the morning, but come lunch a dark and mournful cloud has the entire school on the edge of an emotional breaking point. Students and falcalty are participating and dying. Some examples is one of the more famous and loved F.I.T and science teacher. He died with three other students in his class. Now as I go on, I feel even myself lose all thoughts of happiness that normally are untouched by even the greatest sadness. This is a serious activity to reach out and help us learn the consequences before they happen to us. So here is my love hate for the day... Love how everyone is realizing and taking the next few days seriously and learning the price we pay for stupidly driving while drunk. Hate how this feeling gnaws at me and keep me an others on the verge of tears. We will all pull through and with each person that realizes these lessons, a life can be save in the future. -Sincerely Love-Hate Girl
